Charles Ryder was born on March 14, 1831, to Benjamin and Lydia Ryder in Rochester, Massachusetts. He was the eldest of three siblings, 10 years older than his sister, Phebe, and 15 years older than his sister, Azubah. By 19, Mr. Ryder lived in Wareham, Massachusetts with his family and worked as a laborer.
Mr. Ryder died of atheroma on November 17, 1898, at 12:15 A.M., at 67 in the Massachusetts State Prison.
