James Harley was born in July 1873 in Augusta, Georgia to John and Nancy Harley, two immigrants from Central America and Cuba. Mr. Harley worked as a railroad porter until his incarceration in the Massachusetts State Prison on April 13, 1898.
Mr. Harley died there at 27 at 8:05 P.M. on February 1, 1901, of a pulmonary hemorrhage and pulmonary tuberculosis.
