George Hartung was born in 1822 in Germany.
Mr. Hartung was first incarcerated in the Massachusetts State Prison on September 13, 1873 and released on May 15, 1878 He returned about 18 months later in December 1879. He died of congestion of the lungs on January 9, 1880, 21 days into his second sentence, at age 57.
