John Snow was born on June 2, 1837, in Bangor, Maine to Joel H. Snow and Aphia Marie Jordan. He grew up in Gardiner, Maine with three brothers and two sisters. His mother died when he was 15. Mr. Snow worked as a salesman in Brooklyn, New York. He married Eunice B. Rich on April 29, 1868, at 30.
By 1880, Mr. Snow was incarcerated at Massachusetts State Prison in Boston and worked there as a carpenter. He died on January 3, 1903, at Massachusetts State Prison from acute nephritis, at 65.
