Silas Norman Phelps was born in Monroe, Massachusetts on March 22, 1872 to Darius Phelps and Julia Whitcomb. On March 28, 1897, at age 25, he married 18 year old Eunice Luceba Stafford. The couple had four children – one daughter and three sons – and lived in Monroe. Mr. Phelps worked as an engineer at the nearby Ramage Paper Mill Company.
Authorities executed Mr. Phelps by electrocution on January 26, 1912, at the Massachusetts State Prison in Charlestown, Massachusetts. He was 39.
