Edward J. Powers was born on June 10, 1873, in Massachusetts to Michael Powers and Kate Mansfield. His father was an Irish immigrant. Before his incarceration, Mr. Powers worked as a laborer and lived in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Mr. Powers died from tuberculosis on October 6, 1911, while incarcerated at the Rutland Prison Camp and Hospital. He was 38.
