George W. Hill, a Black man, was born in Alabama in April 1871. His father, Edward Hill, came from Virginia, and his mother, Anna Hill, came from Alabama. Mr. Hill lived with his parents and four brothers in Montgomery, Alabama. In 1897, he married Dottie Ash, a White woman from Pointe Coupee Parish, Louisiana. At the time of their marriage, they were both 26 and lived in Boston.
Mr. Hill was incarcerated at Massachusetts State Prison by 1900 and worked as a day laborer. He died on March 21, 1903, from acute nephritis, at 31.
