Gerald Niel Coleman was born on March 29, 1940, in Manchester, Connecticut, to Robert P. Coleman and Margaret A. Nielsen. He lived on Lydall Street with his parents, his sister Barbara, and his brothers, John and Robert. He later attended the University of Hartford and worked for the U.S. Aircraft Corps Pratt and Whitney Division in East Hartford. In 1962, he married his first wife. They separated in November 1975 and officially divorced in January 1977. In November 1977, Mr. Coleman married his second wife.
Mr. Coleman died at the Massachusetts Correctional Institute of Concord on March 27, 1996, at 55 years old. He was buried on May 24, 1996.
