Picturing the Form - Photographs of the Sculptures of Daniel Chester French

Picturing the Form is a collection of photographs of the sculptural works of Daniel Chester French (1850-1931) French, born in Exeter, NH, moved to Concord, MA, at the age of sixteen in 1866.  His first art teacher was May Alcott, the sister of Little Women author Louisa May Alcott.  He was awarded his first major commission in The Minute Man of Concord, to be dedicated in 1875 on the centennial of the Concord Fight. French sent images of his statuary to be held at the Concord Free Public Library in three batches in 1899, 1916, and 1925.
