Gottfried Zeigler was born in 1836 to Johann and Barbara Ziegler in Germany. He worked as a dyer upon his arrival to the United States. On August 10, 1876, 40-year-old Mr. Zeigler married 28-year-old Huldah Koenig in Boston.
He was incarcerated in the Massachusetts State Prison by 1877. Mr. Zeigler remained there for nine years and two months until he died at 50 of phthisis on September 17, 1886. He had suffered from the disease for two years.
