Plot 167: Sarkis Chilingirian

Sarkis Chilingirian, also known as Sarkis Soghighian [Soghigian], was born on July 4, 1892, in Harput, Mamuretulaziz, Türkiye, then the Ottoman Empire. His mother’s name was Tomaniglian Sghiglian, and he had a cousin named Garabed Zakarian. Mr. Chilingirian immigrated to the United States in January 1910, arriving in New York on the French ocean liner SS La Touraine. He settled in Massachusetts, living in Worcester and Middleborough and working as a shoe worker and farmer. He had black hair, brown eyes, and was of medium height.

On February 28, 1918, Mr. Chilingirian was incarcerated in the Massachusetts State Prison, where he died of pneumonia and influenza at 7:20 P.M. on October 6, 1918. He was 26 years old.
