Alanzo Bell was a Black man born in Jacksonville, Florida in 1887. His parents were both from Georgia. He was 5'6½", had black hair and maroon eyes, and was a Protestant.
At 22, Mr. Bell was incarcerated in the Sing Sing Prison in New York on April 15, 1908. He had previously lived on Diversion Street in New York City with his wife, Lucy Bell, where he worked as a hardwood finisher. After his release, Mr. Bell moved to Massachusetts and worked at a shoe shop.
Mr. Bell was incarcerated again on December 5, 1914 at the Massachusetts State Prison. He died there on April 8, 1929, from a cerebral hemorrhage, at 41 or 42.
