Plot 173: Bernard Weithaas

Bernard Weithaas, whose name has also appeared in records as Bernhard Weidhaase and Bernhard Weithaas, was born in Werdau, Germany, on May 1, 1872, to Franz Bernhard Weidhaase and Friedericke Henrietta Jacob. In 1897, he left Germany, arriving in the United States the following year at age 25. Mr. Weithaas married Elizabeth Horatz, another German immigrant, in Springfield, Massachusetts, on October 28, 1900; both were 28. Elizabeth worked as a cook and Mr. Weithaas worked as a fresco painter.

Mr. Weithaas was incarcerated in the Massachusetts State Prison on December 25, 1902. He died of nephritis around midnight on January 13, 1922, at 49.
