Children's Art
A work of art is not merely a thing. It is the embodiment of an idea. Nowhere within the art collection is that belief more applicable than in the collection of illustrative art associated with children's books. For over thirty years, the Library has invited authors and illustrators to come to Concord to showcase their talents for the children of the community. These artists, including luminaries such as Grace Lin, Eric Carle, and Tomie dePaola, have given both their time and their art to the Library, forming the core of a unique children's art collection. In addition, funds have allowed the Library to purchase pieces of illustrative art related to Concord subjects such as the Concord Fight, Thoreau, Emerson, and Alcott.
